Slivnica is one of the larger settlements in the Zadar County by area. It is scattered not far from the coast of the Velebit Channel and the places of Vinjerac, Posedarje, Jovića, Grgurica, and Gornji Poličnik with which it borders, as well as Novigrad Sea, Novsko Ždrilo, and the valley of the Bašćica River. The road from Posedarje to Pag and Lun passes through Slivnica, and there are around 20 hamlets connected by local roads.
The northeastern part of the settlement is occupied by the karst Slivničko bilo with the highest peak Oraška (Lergova) gradina, 268 m. The lower parts are in the valley of the Bašćica River, which flows through the Slivnica field, where the substrate consists of lapilli and sandstones (flysch) covered by young alluvial deposits.
The cadastral municipality extends to the Velebit Channel where the beach in the Bokulja cove opens towards Velebit. The most significant watercourse is the Bašćica River with its tributaries, along with a larger number of springs and wells indicating the existence of underground water.
